What's Placerville Children's Museum?

What's a children's museum?

An indoor/outdoor playplace and town square for children and their families to play and learn.

Visitors to a children's museum may encounter:

  • Activities/Hands-On Exhibits: Pretend to shop at a farmer's market, be an EMT driving an ambulance to the hospital, create in the art center

  • Interactive Events: Music classes, family exercise classes

  • Parent resources: Parenting classes, birthday parties
According to the Association of Children's Museums: "Children's museums serve as town squares for children and families where play inspires creativity and lifelong learning. They are fun, interactive gathering places where families can learn and play with other families."

"They are inclusive, non-judgmental environments where kids can be kids and lifelong learning is nurtured. At children's museums, the general rule is: Please do touch!"

Our Mission
To strengthen community by creating an inclusive center for discovery where all children and families can gather, play, and grow.

Our Values:

  • Creating meaningful learning experiences
  • Developing appreciation for diversity
  • Honoring the value of play
  • Nurturing families through bonding experiences
  • Facilitating access to existing community resources
